Meet Eduardo Gonzalez: A Passionate Advocate for Midlothian Schools
Dedicated leader, committed family man, and experienced educator - that's Eduardo Gonzalez. For the past three years, he has proudly served as a trustee on the Midlothian ISD school board, driven by a deep belief in the power of public education and a tireless commitment to our community.
Building a Strong Foundation
- Married to Cynthia for 23 years, raising three fantastic children – one a college student and two thriving in Midlothian ISD schools.
- Rooted in Midlothian for the past 6 years, actively engaged in the community.
- 24 years of experience in public education, encompassing diverse roles as a teacher, administrator, and central office leader.
- Vice-President of the North Texas Area Association of School Boards, bringing regional expertise and perspective.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, values diversity and understanding for all families.
Proven Track Record "Promises Made Promises Kept"
- Approved many "District Firsts" such as the ROTC program, E-sports initiative, Officiating classes, Cyber-security, and other CTE courses.
- Championed increased local days for teachers and staff from three to five.
- Played a key role in the opening of Jean Coleman Elementary, investing in our future generation
- Instrumental in developing the district's first "Balanced Scorecard” a management tool used to track Midlothian ISD’s performance by measuring the district priorities .
- Advocated for lowering taxes, demonstrating fiscal responsibility. Never supported a tax increase!
- Consistently fought for staff pay raises and benefits.
- Supported gender-specific dress codes
- Supported higher salaries and benefits for MISD employees
- Led a successful effort to remove sexually explicit books from MISD libraries
- Overcame strong opposition to secure a stipend for special education teachers from $0 to $2500.
- Actively present at district events, demonstrating passion and engagement with our community.
- "Trustee with the most training hours" for the past three years, prioritizing continuous learning and improvement. (159 hours)
- Served on key committees, including Governance, Curriculum, and the City/District Joint Committee, providing diverse perspectives and collaborative leadership.
- Currently serving as Board Secretary
- Worked in the rigorous process of hiring new Superintendent Dr. David Belding.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M International University
- Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University
- Current student at Region 4, Superintendent Program.
Eduardo understands school business, operations, law and will always be an advocate for public education.

MISD seeks balance with approved tax rate
On the other end, board secretary Eduardo Gonzalez supported Option 4, which provided the most relief to taxpayers while still providing for some defeasement. Option 4 had a lower tax rate of $1.2446 while still providing an excess collection of $4.6 million for debt service.
